Healthy living is our
family's story

From a hospital in the 1970s to Singapore's largest supplements factory — this is how we got here.

Hi, I'm Jia — certified nutritionist, currently doing my Masters at NUS School of Medicine, and the person who signs off on every Estalife formula. I also happen to run my family's supplements factory. Right here in Ang Mo Kio.

Our story actually starts way before me. It starts with my grandfather, in a hospital, in 1970.

Where it all began

My grandfather was a hospital director who spent almost 30 years in public healthcare. He practised both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine — long before "integrative health" was a thing. He believed the right nutrition and lifestyle were the foundation for everything. That belief shaped our entire family.

The next generation grows up

My mum grew up watching my grandfather work. She interned at his hospital and absorbed his philosophy — that health isn't something you fix after it breaks; it's something you build every day. That conviction followed her through a career in banking, and eventually pulled her right back to healthcare.

Built on the factory floor

Meanwhile, my dad was building decades of manufacturing expertise — managing factory operations, learning what it takes to produce things at scale with consistency and quality. This wasn't the supplements world yet. But the discipline, the attention to process, the understanding that manufacturing is where quality is made or lost — all of that would become essential later.

One table, one idea

My mum met an NUS researcher studying aloe vera. His work sparked her first product idea. She was the only one willing to take the leap — heavily pregnant with my younger brother, she quit her job and started the business from our dining table. Sales were slow. Friends who started the journey with her pulled out. There was a month where we were left with less than $5,000 in savings. But she refused to stop. And that was the turning point.

Dad joins the party

The business was growing. My dad brought his factory management expertise on board — and suddenly, we weren't just a supplements company with outsourced manufacturing. We started building our own production capabilities. The vision was simple: if you don't control manufacturing, you don't control quality.

Me too! (The nepo baby arrives)

I joined the family business in my twenties. Got my nutritionist certification in 2018. Started my Masters at NUS School of Medicine. I grew up watching how this industry works from the inside — the good parts, and the not-so-good parts. I've spent basically my entire adult life thinking about what goes into people's bodies. And I have a lot of opinions about it.

We go where the ingredients are

We don't just sit in an office and email suppliers. We travel to farms and facilities around the world to source and verify our ingredients firsthand. This is my dad and I in New Zealand — because knowing what goes into your supplements means actually going to see it. It's not glamorous. But it matters.

Today — Ang Mo Kio

Singapore's largest NSF GMP-certified supplements factory

Today, we own a 70,000 sqft manufacturing facility in the heart of Ang Mo Kio, powered by renewable energy. NSF flies auditors from Michigan to our factory every year for strict GMP audits that meet international standards.

Why did we invest $50 million into building our own factory? Because manufacturing isn't just formulating on paper and mixing ingredients. A 2024 NUS study tested 18 NMN products on the market — 15 of them failed, with zero active ingredient or less than what the label claimed. Most of those brands weren't trying to scam anyone. They just didn't have manufacturing expertise.

We do. And that's why we own the entire process.

For the past two decades, we've been manufacturing supplements for global brands, hospitals, and clinics. Now I'm bringing it home.
