• Bilberry Extract: 10mg → 320mg (+3,100%) — The most significant upgrade. Bilberry anthocyanins support retinal microcirculation, rhodopsin regeneration (the pigment that drives night vision and dark adaptation), and ciliary muscle recovery from screen fatigue. A 12-week randomised double-blind trial found 240mg of standardised bilberry extract significantly improved ciliary muscle accommodation in VDT workers (Kosehira et al., Nutrients, 2020). Our 320mg dose sits at the upper end of the researched range.

• L-Taurine: 100mg → 400mg (+300%) — Taurine is one of the most concentrated amino acids in the human retina, playing a key role in protecting photoreceptor cells and maintaining retinal cell integrity. The higher dose brings it in line with the concentrations used in eye-health research.

The Generation 2 formula takes a different approach. Lutein and Zeaxanthin are still included for macular support, but the new formula leads with Bilberry Extract (now at 320mg, up from 10mg), Astaxanthin (a new addition), and Saffron Extract (a new addition) — ingredients that support additional mechanisms like retinal blood flow, ciliary muscle recovery, and macular function, which Lutein and Zeaxanthin alone do not address.
