Why the zinc form on the label isn't always the zinc form in the capsule
Zinc is one of the most commonly deficient minerals worldwide, and one of the most inconsistently absorbed, depending on which chemical form a supplement actually uses. A randomised crossover trial in 12 healthy women compared zinc bisglycinate against zinc gluconate at the same 15mg dose and found the bisglycinate chelate to be roughly 43% more bioavailable [1]. A separate narrative review of human absorption studies reached a similar conclusion, ranking glycinate ahead of gluconate, picolinate, and oxide across multiple trials [2]. The chemical form zinc is bound to changes how much of it your body actually takes up, not just what's printed on the label.

This matters because "zinc glycinate" on a label doesn't guarantee a fully reacted chelate. The glycine has to be properly bonded to the zinc ion for the absorption advantage to hold. A blend of zinc oxide or zinc carbonate mixed with glycine powder can carry the same label claim without the same chelate structure or the same absorption profile.

Why Albion™ TRAACS™
TRAACS® stands for The Real Amino Acid Chelate System, a chelate validation standard developed by Albion® Minerals, a Balchem Corporation brand. It uses Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to confirm that the carboxyl and nitrogen groups of the amino acid have fully reacted with the zinc ion. This spectroscopic confirmation is what distinguishes a true, fully reacted chelate from a blend that passes standard chemical analysis without actually being chelated. We use Albion's TRAACS-validated zinc bisglycinate specifically because that confirmation exists, not just an assertion on our part.

What you get per serving
Zinc (from 55.6mg Albion™ TRAACS™ Zinc Bisglycinate, 100% Chelated) | 15mg | 136%

Daily Value Serving size: 1 Vegetable Capsule | Servings per container: 60 | Supply: 60 days
Vegan | Non-GMO | FDA-Registered Facility | Made in Singapore

On compound weight vs elemental zinc: 55.6mg of the fully reacted Albion™ TRAACS™ zinc bisglycinate chelate delivers 15mg of elemental zinc. The remaining weight is the glycine amino acid the zinc is bonded to, which is part of what makes the chelate more readily absorbed in the first place, not an inactive filler.

Key Benefits
Supports healthy immune system function
Zinc plays an important role in how your immune system works. A large review of 35 clinical trials in nearly 2,000 adults found that people who took zinc showed healthier immune markers than those who didn't, including lower levels of inflammation in the body and more of the immune cells that help fight off infection [3].

Contributes to normal cell function
Zinc acts as a cofactor for hundreds of enzymes involved in protein and nucleic acid synthesis, and plays a structural role in transcription factors that regulate cell division and differentiation. This is a well-established, foundational role of zinc in human biology.

Supports zinc status during pregnancy
Zinc is an essential nutrient during pregnancy and contributes to normal growth and development. Ensuring adequate zinc intake can help support the increased nutritional needs during pregnancy. Research has also explored the potential role of zinc supplementation in supporting pregnancy outcomes, including preterm birth.

Directions of Use
Take 1 capsule daily, with or after any meal. Or take as directed by a healthcare professional. Store in a cool and dry place.

Caution:
Individuals with medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before using any dietary supplements.

Who is this suitable for?
-Adults who want a validated, fully reacted chelated zinc rather than a blended or unverified form
-Adults with low dietary zinc intake, including those on plant-based or restrictive diets
-Pregnant women looking to support adequate zinc status alongside their prenatal care
-Anyone who has experienced stomach discomfort with other zinc forms, such as zinc oxide or zinc sulfate
-Adults who want transparency on what is actually in their supplement, not just what the label claims

Why Estalife?

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does the label say 55.6mg but only 15mg is elemental zinc?
A: That's expected, not an error. 55.6mg is the weight of the full Albion™ TRAACS™ zinc bisglycinate chelate, which includes the glycine amino acid the zinc is bonded to. 15mg is the actual elemental zinc your body absorbs and uses, and that's the figure that counts toward daily value.

Q: What's the difference between this and a cheaper zinc gluconate or zinc oxide supplement?
A: The form zinc is bound to affects how well it's absorbed. A human crossover trial found zinc bisglycinate to be roughly 43% more bioavailable than zinc gluconate at the same dose [1]. Albion™ TRAACS™ additionally verifies, through independent lab testing, that the chelate bond has actually formed, which a standard label claim does not guarantee on its own.

Q: Is this safe to take during pregnancy?
A: Zinc needs do increase during pregnancy, and this can be a reasonable way to support that. Please speak with your doctor or check with your prenatal vitamin brand first, as many prenatal formulas already include zinc, and you don't want to unintentionally double up.

Q: Can I take this alongside other Estalife supplements?
A: Yes. Zinc is commonly taken alongside other daily essentials. If you're also taking a multivitamin or another zinc-containing product, check your combined daily zinc intake with a healthcare professional.

Q: Will this upset my stomach like other zinc supplements have?
A: Chelated forms like zinc bisglycinate are generally better tolerated than zinc oxide or zinc sulfate, which is part of why we chose this form. If you do experience discomfort, taking it with a meal, as stated in the directions, can help.
